Fireplains

Form, shape and flowing lines of a floodplain caused by flowing and seeping water as it runs off the low-lying areas around the Top End’s major river systems. The rock outcrops are left over from an earlier time that the forces of erosion couldn’t level. Now the water flows across the landscape to the creek at the bottom of the frame. I find it mesmerising that the ground is almost flat yet when stopped in time and studied it isn’t, and this becomes more evident when looking at tones and densities left behind. Captured at about 1000m on the floodplains near Chambers Bay this is typical of the water flow on a floodplain.
